Sukau in the middle of the rain forest

Actually I wanted to make only a daytrip to the rain forest but than I liked it so much that I returned and stayed 4 more days.
The place I stayed was a small village called Sukau, around 2 1/2 hours away from Sandakan at the Kinabatangan river. I rented a room in a simple BB including all meals (there was no shop around) and basically did boat and walking trips all day starting from 6 am to 10 pm.
I took so many pictures of the animals around, saw different birds and monkeys and snakes.
Unfortunatly I didnt see a Orang Utan but there still living some in the forest even if the rainforest is cut more and more to make place for oilpalm plantage.

Ok, I dont remember all the names of the animals. My guide explaint very good.
This is an eagle.

That beautiful bird is a King Fisher. At night we could come very close wile it was sleeping.

kind of storch
And this called Hornbill

and of course monkeys monkeys monkeys... so funny!

... they even can fly
Thats really scary: a Phyton. This one was in a tree close to the river and around 4-5 meters according to my guide.

That was a part of the village and the house I stayed looked like this.

And more scary: this is a poison snake (as I remember Malaysian pit viper) just sitting one morning at the tree next to the breakfast place.

Sandakan and Sepilok/ Borneo

Sandakan in Sabah/ Borneo. There is not much to see in this small city but its a good place to start trips into the dschungel.

Some of the young local people wanted me to take photos from them.

This is the view from the fabulous roof terrace at NAK hotel where I stayed few nights. For me it was the best place in town.
One day I made a trip to the nearby Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center in Sepilok.
This station take care of injured and orphaned Orang Utans and return them back to the wild after recovering.
It became famous for the tourists and the station needs the money to continue but its like in a zoo; 100 people waiting for...

.. this: an Orang Utan is coming to the platform to get food. Sometimes there more Orang Utans, but at the day I was there, only one showed.

Anyway, was fun to watch but I decided to see the real wilslife and stay few days in a village in the dschungel.

Kuala Lumpur

Holiday in Malaysia and I started with Kuala Lumpur.
I stayed only 2 days there and have to say: it was not very interesting besides of the architecture.
There the Petronas Towers and other impressive buildings but I missed something like a center or old parts.

The nightlife was ok. Best was the place I stayed: a small hostel with very friendly staff and a great area to sit and chat and meet people. The name is Classic Inn located behinde the Time Square.

Petronas Towers. I took the photo from the TV tower (it has a different name, just forgot it)

The TV tower in the back

This was in little India; people making flower arrangements for the temple.

Street scene; most of the people there are Moslems.

My first monkey in Malaysia! 1000 will follow..

Next I go to Sandakan in Borneo; actually wile writing this I m already here for 3 days and sitting now with a Mango Daiquirie at the fabulous roof terrace at the NAK Hotel and watch the sunset.

Last Sunday...

Last Sunday Jo and me went to Sheung Wan to see some exhibitions. The exhibitions where good but I liked more the old houses, quiet streets and people around.

There lots of small hidden temple in Sheung Wan

Later we walked to central and the architecture changed to more modern.
One day ago I saw a great old building when i passed Lai Chi Kok by bus and I wanted to go there again to take pictures.

Here it is, its on castle peak road and actually there 2 buildings.

The small lane in between the buildings called Kim Shin Lane

And as it was a nice day the people where on the street and checked in front of the Hong Kong Jockey Club if they won at the last horse race

Soho street scene

After a long time not posting anything I m back here to show you some more of my favorite places in Hong Kong.
There is not much time left; I will leave Hong Kong end of May.
Last Sunday I was again in Soho and also visited the famous Wing Lee Street.
It became famous recently when there was made the film "echoes of the rainbow" which won a price at the Berlinale.

This are some of the old houses in Wing Lee Street. Now the people discussing about what to do with this street in order to keep the old character.

This is a wall in Soho; you pass it when you go up with the escalator.

And an artist painting for tourists at the cat street market.
